KUCHENREUTER Percussion German ZIMMERSTUTZEN / PARLOR Rifle Liege Proofed Boy-Sized Single Shot Carnival Gun! Here we present an antique German made B.I. Kuchenreuter Zimmerstutzen Gallery Rifle, made circa the 1850s in Regensburg, Germany. The occupation of gun making with the Kuchenreuter family began around 1695 when Johann Kuchenreuter started his business. Since that time, twenty-eight of his descendants have carried on that gunmaking tradition! B.B. Pelletier describes it like this: “The Zimmerstutzen was the ancestor of the 10-meter target or “air” rifle and extends back to at least 1840. Zimmerstutzen is the rough translation of “parlor rifle” or “gallery rifle” in German. The first Zimmer was powered by a percussion cap, as is this one, that propelled a small lead ball through a short rifled barrel.” Gallery rifles were very popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries throughout Europe. These would be set up in drinking establishments, at carnivals and even in people’s houses. These were very low velocity firearms and cartridges, making them relatively safe and quiet. The overall condition is near fine. The action is strong. The bore is in very good condition. This example features an oversized cheek piece. The trigger guard is a little loose. The top of the barrel reads “B.I. KUCHENREUTER A’ REGENSBURG”. Here is a very nice German “Parlor” rifle for display and collecting! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 25-3/4 inches. Caliber: .180 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE.
