Fine+ Colt Lightning medium-frame rifle in .44-40 caliber. Early serial #298, 26" octagon barrel. Colt factory letter showing an 1885 shipment of 3 guns to Charles Stark. Charles Stark manufactured watch cases under the name Toronto Watch Case Company. The Charles Stark Company's 1887 annual catalogue lists products of jewelry trade, firearms industry and trade. This gun is retaining most of the original blued finish, now fading. Very good bore, top of barrel with crisp Colt's Hartford address and patent dates. Top of barrel at breech boldly stamped "44 CAL.". Original sights. Mechanics are very good. Checkered pump-slide and stock exhibiting very little wear. Crescent-style buttplate. Crisp Colt logo on left side of flame. Fine overall condition on this 1885 Colt rifle.
