#4974 Colt S/A 7-1/2”x45COLT serial numbered in the 51XXX range (1879), VG to fine bore and tight action. The metal is very decent for its age and above average for what is basically a grayish patina no-finish 140+ year old cowboy Colt. Aside of some light peppery pitting scattered mostly on the barrel and a little on the cylinder and hammer, it has almost no pitting or serious wear anywhere else. The one-piece walnut grips fit perfectly and have no losses. Generally speaking, the overall look is WELL above what one usually sees for an old cowboy Colt dated from the pre-1880s. The markings are all good, numbers match, and this is just a good solid example of what is probably the fastest appreciator in the antique gun collecting field. VG as described, $3295
