Description:
General Specs: Parker, Year 1918, 20 Gauge, 6lbs 3oz, Chokes M/F, LOP 14 1/8", DAH 2 7/16", DAC 1 7/16"
Serial Number: 184015

The Parker is the most noted vintage American double shotgun in the world and has more fans than all the other major makers.  They are wonderful guns with a classic look and were made in  high numbers, about 250,000 guns in all.  When looking for a lightweight Parker for upland birds or a casual day on the sporting clays course you will see the Parker VH 20ga. offered for sale quite often, so they are not a rare gun.  In fact, they made about 10,000 of them in all.  So, how do you know which one to buy.  Most all you see have been altered, worn thin of finish from hard use, or stocks cut or replaced with after-market wood, screws buggered, etc.  It is extremely rare to find a VH 20 gauge in high factory condition.  THOSE are the guns that are the most sought after, that will gain in value the most over the years and bring the most pride of ownership.  This Parker, sn184015 made in 1918, is one that retains most all its FACTORY ORIGINAL CONDITION.  It is unmolested in any way, with 90% vivid factory case color, 98% dark factory blue, excellent screws, perfect mirror bores, and a stock that is factory original and unaltered ending in the factory dog’s head butt plate.  The wood has nice figure for a VH grade gun, with excellent checkering and nary a split or crack anywhere, and great shooting dimensions still retaining its original factory finish.  With the 26" barrels choked M/F, weighing 6lbs. 3oz. and balanced dead on the hinge pin, it is the perfect upland gun that can also knock down some clay targets when asked to do so.  The barrels are tight on the hinge pin and breech face and have tight ribs.  The chambers have been professionally and safely extended to 2 ¾” with forcing cones lengthened to 1 ½” tapers.  These two services would cost $360 in our shop and they allow the new owner to shoot modern loads with less felt recoil and better patterns than Parkers that have not been altered to these modern features.  Most all of the buyers of these guns in this day and age are shooting these guns at birds and clays and this is one alteration that is a benefit to all.  The gun has a scattering of very light freckling as the only sign of age that looks worse in the photos than it does in hand.  This is an investment quality Parker and will continue to gain value as you enjoy its use.  The case color is hard to photograph and is much more vivid in person.  You will not be disappointed in this gun, and it is affordably priced.  Thanks for looking!
