Fine bore (8+) that does appear to have some powder residue from having been shot and not cleaned. The action is good and tight, with all the 4-clicks on the hammer. The metal is in very nice overall condition, especially for a gun that is 126 years old, and it has almost no pitting or serious wear anywhere. It retains a good barrel address, frame markings and a 90% overall coverage of a thin age brownish patina with 20% density. Very fine correct and very desireable vintage hard rubber Eagle grips with about 15-20% wear to the Eagle motif, the right side grip showing slightly more wear. The overall look on this 1891 manufactured S/A is much above what one usually sees for an old cowboy Colt. But suffice to say this, that since many, if not most Single Actions have been restored, enhanced, and/or “juiced-up” to some degree, one should always take the possibility of some degree of restoration into consideration. This gun has been valued and priced with that possibility in mind, although I cannot find any fault with it. This is a good opportunity to own a really decent major piece of the most sought after Wild West frontier cartridge handgun …and one of the fastest value appreciators in the antique gun field.
