Antique Cased English Bentley Style Double Action Percussion Pocket Revolver, with correct oak case and accoutrements, .36 cal., blued 3.25” unmarked octagonal barrel with post front sight and left-side 2-pc. jointed loading lever, is engraved at muzzle and proofmarked underneath; blued 5-shot round cylinder is engraved in floral scrolls and proofmarked over each chamber; frame is engraved with integral grip straps and fluted oval buttcap, has a left-side safety lever, notched rear sight; checkered 2-pc. hardwood grips with engraved screw and escutcheon.
Condition is very good. The barrel and cylinder retain approx. 35% original blue, the frame and triggerguard are gunmetal gray with traces of blue; grips are sound with predominantly sharp checkering. Action functions; bore with sharp rifling. The partitioned English oak case is original and very good, having sound hinges, a brass key escutcheon and 2 brass hook-catches at front, a vacant, coin-edged round brass escutcheon and brass screws on top, lining is damaged under flask; very good accessories include a correct small plain powder flask, scissors bullet mold, modern nipple wrench, a labeled empty tin of Joyce percussion caps, and a strip of striped ticking for patch-making. A very nice, complete and original cased set.
