Description: Recognized widely as the best conditioned two digit serial number Parker, #97 is truly a gem. The gun is chambered for "12B" cartridges and remains in overall excellent original untouched condition. The gun made with original 27-3/4" (uncut) Laminated barrels, wedge fastened splinter forend, straight grip buttstock with full steel buttplate. This was a slightly higher grade of gun as it does have nice checkering, engraved screws and border engraving. The gun remains in excellent original untouched condition for its age with about 25% original case color, 85% original laminated pattern which has oxidized to a pleasing brunette color. Stocks have about 85% original finish and are totally sound and free from cracks with handling marks throughout. The buttplate even retains about 1/3 of its original blue. Bores are very good with some pits but as good as can be found on a Parker gun of this vintage. Both bores measure .741 and the gun was made in the days before choke boring. The gun has surprising stock measurements at 14" LOP, 1-5/8" DAC and 2-3/4" DAH. As seen in the photos, this is really a fine early Parker. Knowledgeable collectors have long called #97 "The Best" early two digit gun known and I have to agree with their assessment. The gun is priced at $3195 shipped and insured.
