Description:
General Specs: Fox, Year 1928, 20ga, 5lbs 14oz, Chokes F/F, LOP 14 1/4", DAH 2 1/2", DAC 1 1/2"
Serial Number: 202989

Many gun lovers reading this ad regularly scour the internet for good deals on Fox shotguns.  One thing for certain; the availability of top quality, graded 20ga. Fox shotguns has dwindled to nearly zero.  Shooter/collectors have recognized the Fox 16ga. and 20ga. guns are the most well-balanced, best handling guns of all the vintage American doubles.  It is also known that they have the simplest, most reliable actions as well.  This Philly-made Fox, sn202989 produced in 1928 is an awesome find.  First, they only made about 2400 A Grade 20ga. Fox guns, less than 1200 with ejectors, and literally a handful with 28” #4 weight barrels.  Due to damage, loss, poor restorations, etc. there are only a few hundred genuine, honest, factory correct, high-condition Fox AE 20ga. guns left in the world, and the guys that own them are not likely to be selling them soon.  Some of these little Fox guns stand out from the rest, and this is one of them with the factory original, nicely figured European walnut stock, recently rust blued barrels, crisp engraving and 75% factory case color, trigger guard retains 99% charcoal blue, and screws that are crisp and clean …an awesome find!  This Fox has perfect mechanics, excellent bores, and is tight on breech face and hinge pin.  It is hard to find these older Fox guns with a full-length stock terminating with the buttplate, as most have been cut and shortened at some point in time.  Pair this with excellent modern stock dimensions with 2 ½” drop at heel and you have all of the features you could ever want in a vintage A.H. Fox 20-gauge upland gun.  THIS IS A “VFI CERTIFIED” GUN, meaning we stripped the forend iron and receiver to the smallest parts, ran it through the Ultrasonic cleaner, inspected all parts for integrity and function, then lubricated and reassembled (a $325 service).  VFI CERTIFIED guns carry a 90-day mechanical warranty.  Weighing just 5lbs. 14oz. and balanced perfectly on the hinge pin, the gun will make you smile when you pick her up.  If you like the gun and need some adjustments to make her “just right” for your needs, we have 4 gunsmiths working daily and we can make the alterations within a few week of your purchase, including stock bending, choke and chamber work, leather covered pads…whatever you may want.  See the specifications in the tables below.  Don’t let this one escape you.  It will be a long time until another Fox AE 20 this nice is offered for sale.  It will continue to gain value as you enjoy its use, so it is a grand investment tool for your hard-earned funds.  Thanks for looking!
