Description:
Great Lakes pipe tomahawk handmade in all parts by Native Americans. The head is Native coppered hammered and hand forged to look like blacksmith made head. Haft is completely Native made in a very unusual style with turtle image on haft. Exhibited in the Wichita Falls Museum 1967, Maryland Academy of Art and Science 1969, and Florida Museum Ft. Lauderdale 1973. Collected by Howard Green from Hubbell who collected for George Heye around 1900. This piece also published in the American Arms Society's Publication. Head 8 1/2" Overall 18". Circa 1820 - 1950.
