Description:
General Specs: Winchester, Year 1934, 16 Gauge, 28" = 6lbs 10 oz, 26" = 6lbs 9oz
Serial Number: 6622

What a beautiful 16-gauge Model 21 Tournament Skeet two barrel set we present here, built in 1934 and documented with a Cody Firearms Museum letter.  Serial number 6622 built in 1934 is in superb condition, having its metal and wood finishes completely restored and still retaining 99% historically correct finishes on all metal, and the wood having only a few light marks.  The polishing of the metal has been done to perfection with no loss of detail in the stampings or rib matting.  Almost all Model 21 guns have been restored at one time or another (even though the seller insists the gun is “original”).  Finding a factory two-barrel set is an event!  Most double gun enthusiasts are aware of the reputation earned by the Winchester Model 21; a gun of superior strength and mechanical genius created under the micro-management of John Olin himself.  Model 21’s can shoot the most powerful loads available, SO IF YOU LIKE MAGNUM LOADS FOR PHEASANTS, DUCKS, OR OTHER TOUGH GAME, THIS IS YOUR GUN.  From 1930 to 1934 Winchester only built 2600 Model 21 guns, and less than 400 of them were 16ga. guns, most being Standard Grades.  Only a dozen or so were 16ga. Tournament Skeet Grade guns…they are THAT RARE.  This grade was only offered in 1934 and 1935 and is highly coveted by collectors and shooters alike.  There are fakes out there with aftermarket stamps on the bottom of the receiver, so beware!  The only way to be sure is with factory records that document the gun as a Tournament Skeet Grade.  The 26” barrels have excellent bores choked WS1/WS2 and are tight on the hinge pin and breech face like a new gun. The 28” barrels, added by the factory in 1952, are choked M/F, also tight on the hinge and breech face with excellent bores.  WHAT A VERSATILE MODEL 21 SMALL GAUGE GUN THAT WILL WORK AS WELL IN THE GROUSE WOODS AS IN THE GRAND PRAIRIES OF THE WEST CHASING PHEASANT, HUNS, AND SHARPIES WITH THE M/F CHOKES.  The same versatility will be welcome on the clay target courses as well.  You will note in the photos that the English style buttstock is Exhibition Grade walnut and has a long LOP of 14 ½”.  The gun shipped with a 14” pistol grip stock, so we know this stock is a replacement.  The figure is stunning, the inletting and wood-to-metal fit is done to perfection, as is the checkering.  Most shooters love the looks and handling characteristics of a straight grip stock and they are hard to find.  If you are tall you know how impossible it is to find a Model 21 that will fit you without a pad being added.  If you are really tall, we can add a pad and get 15 3/8” for you.  The forend is the diminutive Hession style beavertail discussed in Schwing’s book on the Model 21…very nice in hand.  This is a rare opportunity to own a Tournament Skeet 2-barrel set in 16ga. that is the perfect gun for upland game and clay target games.  WE HAVE TWO OTHER TOURNAMENT SKEET GRADE MODEL 21’S FOR SALE, ONE A 12GA. THE OTHER A 16GA. IN CASE YOU WANT TO MAKE A SET OF THIS HARD TO FIND MODEL 21.  Call soon before they are sold!  Thanks for looking!
