Description:
General Specs: Fox, Year 1930, 20 ga, 5lbs 14oz, Chokes IC/F, LOP 14 1/8", DAH 2 3/4", DAC 1 9/16"
Serial Number: 262509

Most will agree the Fox Sterlingworth 20ga. is the best value for a small gauge vintage American double in today's marketplace.  Built on a tiny 20ga. frame, therefore lighter than like guns from Parker, L.C. Smith, or Ithaca, they are dynamically balanced and delightful little guns.  The Sterlingworth is still an affordable field and clays gun with the handling and shooting characteristics of a much more expensive gun.  Just try and find a decent Fox 20ga. EJECTOR GUN in any grade.  There are few offered for sale, and for good reason.  The A.H. Fox 20 bore has been described as the “most perfectly proportioned 20ga.” boxlock ever made and it likely is true.  Those that own them have no intention of selling them.  I have a treasure here; a 1930 Sterlingworth ejector 20 gauge, sn262509, that has 85% factory case color, 96% factory barrel blue, 90% factory trigger guard blue, 26" #3 weight barrels factory choked IC/F, 2 ¾” chambers, mirror bores, barrels tight on the hinge pin and breech face like a new gun and the top lever well right of center.  The mechanics are excellent with strong, well timed ejectors, crisp trigger pulls, and having just been stripped to the smallest part, Ultrasonic cleaned, inspected, and lubricated properly making this a VFI CERTIFIED GUNS with a 90-day mechanical warranty. This is a $325 service that gives you confidence in the mechanics of your vintage Fox. Who else offers that?!!! There isn’t a better way to buy a 90-year-old gun than buying a VFI CERTIFIED gun.  Weighing 5lbs. 14oz. and perfectly balanced on the hinge pin, it is a delightful little bird gun that will appeal to the collector, the upland hunter, and the vintage clays gunners.  This appears to be the STERLINGWORTH DELUXE that Savage came out with when they took over the A.H. Fox Gun Co. in 1930, as it has double ivory beads and a vintage pad that is proper for the gun.  She even has great modern shooting dimensions without the usual 3” drop.  This gun has been carried and has field marks in the wood and a light frosting in places on the barrels and action.  It is wholly original, and we purposely left it this way for those that prefer an original gun with some age on it to a gun that has had restorations performed on it.  If you wish, we can rust blue the barrels, charcoal blue the trigger guard, and restore the wood to make this fine little Sterlingworth look nearly new.  There is a LOT of original finish on the gun and she is good the way she is.  If you want her spiffed up, we can do that for you and have the gun to you before the summer is over.  Fox 20ga. guns with ejectors will continue to grow in value as fewer and fewer are available to purchase.  A great investment opportunity and delightful gun for your upland bird season.  Thanks for looking.
