Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: This is a nice example of the WW1-production Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Company, otherwise known as Remington U.M.C., U.S. Military Model 1911 .45 ACP service pistol. This example is serial number 16245, making it's date of manufacture 1919 and part of the last delivery of Remington U.M.C. WW1 contract guns (8295 guns in serial number range 13382-21676). It was likely issued for a a period of time and then turned back into the U.S. Military's supply system where it was sent for inspection and repair to Augusta Arsenal in Augusta, Georgia. While at Augusta it was fully inspected, any worn or damaged parts were replaced, and it was parkerized before being sent back into the U.S. Military supply system. Augusta Arsenal, like the many others in the arsenal refurbishment program, was assigned a two letter code to stamp any weapons that they rebuilt. You can see Augusta's "A.A." stamp on the left side of the frame just below the "TY" in "United States Property". This Remington U.M.C. 1911 managed to retain all Remington U.M.C. parts, including the original "P" marked barrel and the WW1 style checkered walnut "diamond" grips with 13 rows of checkering between the points. As you can see from the pictures, the arsenal parkerized finish is in good condition with only light wear showing, and all of the factory stampings and U.S. Inspector's initials are still crisp and legible. The bore in this 1911 has some shallow pitting throughout but still has clearly defined rifling. The factory grips are in good condition, with both sides free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major damage. Both grip panels are tight to the gun and are a perfect match to each other. All of the controls on this Remington U.M.C. are in perfect working order, and the action on this 1911 is slick and locks up tight. This 100 plus year old 1911 should still function very well. This Remington U.M.C. comes complete with an original WW1 two-tone magazine made by the M.S. Little Mfg. Co. in Hartford, Conn. ("L" stamped on top of floorplate lip). If you have been looking for a handsome but affordable Remington U.M.C. 1911 for your collection here is your chance to get a good one.
