Payment Types Accepted: check, credit card, layaway Description: An original, TYPE 1, SNELL SABRE BAYONET with its original LEATHER SCABBARD for the 1841 MISSISSIPPI RIFLE. It was made at the Harpers Ferry Arsenal, in 1855. They only produced 1646 of these bayonets. The handle, scabbard throat and tip are brass. The leather scabbard is a VERY SCARCE item, especially in this condition. Unfortunately the attaching ring and the locking key in the cross guard are missing, and the blade is a bit rough. DIMENSIONS: Overall Length in Scabbard 21.90- Blade 21.9- Blade width- 1.21 Condition- Scabbard is VERY GOOD with minor losses of finish to the leather - Brass tip and throat are good with a nice mustard color age patina with some dents and marks - Stitching is intact - Brass handle has a dark age patina mixed with lighter areas - Attaching ring and locking key in the cross guard are both missing - Blade has a dark age patina with scattered pitting & nicks” SOLD |
