A very good lightweight Lincoln Jeffries Jnr boxlock double 16 bore nitro proofed damascus sporting gun. I love the beauty of Damascus barrels but with the functionality of nitro proofing! This lovely little Anson & Deeley boxlock gun has a diminutive frame and wrist. It weighs just 5lbs 14ozs. The beautiful Damascus barrels are 30" long, have mint bores, cylinder on the right and the left choked light modified or, as the English put it, between 1/4 and 1/2, 2 1/2" chambers, and are nitro proofed. The barrels are fast to the gun with double lumps and grips and a rib extension cross-bolt similar to Greener's Wedge-fast. The configuration is thus similar to Greener's patented Treble Wedge-fast or Facile Princeps but it is an Anson & Deeley action with a cross-bolt. The gun has extractors but no ejectors. It is stocked in a Prince of Wales fashion in English walnut showing considerable curl at the butt and some interesting dark streak graining throughout, particularly through the left side of the wrist making one wonder if the wrist has been broken and repaired. It has not. The fine flat top checkering is in near excellent condition at the wrist but could stand to be freshened on the forearm. The stock has the usual bumps and bruises. The butt plate is horn. Lincoln Jeffries Jnr was in business at 120 Steelhouse Lane in Birmingham from 1917 to about 1939 making this a late Damascus barreled gun but again, it is nitro proofed. If your looking for a light and lively English side-by-side bird gun with beautiful Damascus barrels but nitro proofed to take to the field, this gun should be a contender.
