I inherited this from my Grt. Uncle. He worked as a Ranch hand in New Mexico. This is a Vintage Carbine made before 1898 so, NO need for any FFL paperwork to ship it or Own it. Unaltered Carbine having some possible Native American designs on gun stock. .action seems fine having no looseness from wear. I know the Rear Barrelband is worth $200.00 as NO ONE produces them..! The Buttplate has a little sliding door to hold cleaning rods(3)..which ARE ORIGINAL-NOT repro..! Wood is original and I believe the sights front/rear are as well. Being I am 81 yrs. old I have no ammo nor have I loaded -shot it. I am moving to an assisted living arrangement and guns are not allowed on premises. I feel my asking price is VERY reasonable compared to others I see for sale. I as well as you know NICE 44-40 -1873 Carbines are becoming quite few. I will not ship this to Calif/New York/Wash.DC. S&H w/ scabbard adds weight and cost.
