Description:
Rare 2nd model Burnside carbine. Approximately 2,000 manufactured between 1861 and 1862. Very good condition overall. Serial #1714 matching. Clear Burnside markings on lockplate and lever latch. Barrel stamped with "CAST-STEEL 1861", all there, just light. The patent stamp on the breech is there, but really only remnants. The stock is very good+ with great color, just expected age handling wear. Half of the government cartouche is still visible. The metal overall is smooth brown mixing with age grey. The 21" barrel still retains good grooves. Very good mechanics. The butt swivel, sling ring and side bar are all present. This is a scarce carbine in very good+ condition overall.
