SMITH & WESSON Model 49 Bodyguard Nickel 38 S&W Special Like-New in Original Box with Paperwork 1981~ PRISTINE~ Mint Model 49 in nickel. This Bodyguard is the finest example we have seen in years. It has had very little use if any. Minimal drag line on the 5-shot fluted cylinder. Minimal handling marks. Lockup and timing are perfect. Bore is shiny. Its a double action revolver, built on the round butt J shrouded hammer frame.The Smith and Wesson Model 49 revolver is for the most part the S&W Model 38 however, with a steel “J” style frame. The Model 49, a member of the “Bodyguard” line of weapons, and was introduced in 1957 and fires five .38 Special rounds. While having a unique hump-back shape, the revolver was designed with a mainly internal hammer that can be cocked and fired from within a users pocket without snagging on clothing. According to the serial # (J796XXX) it was manufactured in 1981 It comes in Original 3-ring blue & silver box with all original paperwork As seen in the many highly detailed photos the condition of this piece is Phenomenal with only minor indications of consumer use and handling.Of course photographing this beauty was difficult due to the highly reflective nature of the high polished mirror like nickel finish.
