Description:
For your consideration is an absolutely outstanding WWII German set of 6x30 binoculars (Dienstglas). The binoculars retain over 90% of the original “ordnance tan” (Gelbbraun) paint. They are nicely marked on the right “Dienstglas / 6X30 / 344255 / ddx” – “ddx” is the ordnance code for Voigtlaender u. Sohn AG, Braunschweig, Germany. The brown leather neck strap is in excellent condition & is soft & supple. The black metal studs have some paint remaining. The brown Bakelite eye cups are in like condition; completely intact with no chips or cracks. Best of all the optics are absolutely crystal clear! No scratches, hazing or fogging. There is no reticle but the optics are fantastic.

The brown Bakelite case is in overall very good condition & has darkened a bit with age & use. The metal does exhibit some minor rust but with some care most of this could be cleaned off. More importantly all of the leather on the case is intact. The leather (or sometimes Presstoff) pull tab is intact…these are commonly missing. The leather belt straps are also completely intact & again…these are usually missing. The leather carrying strap is the later war version that is greatly simplified & is in excellent condition – the leather is soft & supple & the brass studs retain some of their original black paint. The interior of the case is in very good condition & the leather pad on the top of the lid is intact. The case is not perfect & it clearly saw some field use but it is in honest use & did its job protecting the binoculars.
