EXCELLENT SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1880 TRAPDOOR .45-70 CAL. RIFLE. Rare and original example serial number 157623 in the correct range for this rare model. Only 1000 made with the distinctive integral triangular bayonet/ramrod and cleaning tool trap in butt plate unique to this model. Excellent with 95% plus original blue. Stock with the original finish and a partially visible inspector’s cartouche stamped on the left wrist. Perfect working order and excellent bore. Scarce Indian Wars trap door rifle.
