Description:
Original WW2 U.S. M1A1 Paratrooper carbine in .30 Carbine caliber.  This carbine was manufactured by Inland Division General Motors in approximately August of 1944.  It has been thru an arsenal update/overhaul and many parts have been replaced or upgraded. The flip type safety is an upgrade, as well as the Type 3 barrel band with a bayonet lug, but the Type 2 milled adjustable rear sight is factory original for this date of production.  The bolt is the desirable flat-type, and the original fabricated-type trigger housing has been replaced with a milled Inland housing.  The barrel is an Inland Division General Motors barrel dated "8-44".  The bore in this M1A1 is excellent, mirror-bright with nice sharp rifling throughout.  The Inland-made folding stock and handguard on this Paratrooper Carbine is very nice, and it is 100% original.  The pistol grip is nice and tight, and the original U.S. Military inspection cartouche on the bottom flat is visible.  The stock is properly marked "I.O." on the inside ahead of the mag well, and the handguard is stamped "I.O." on the underside edge.  The original wire sections and springs on this stock are all in excellent condition and free from any damage or bends, and the leather cheekpiece is still soft, tight, and 100% intact with the original rivets.  The spring-loaded buttplate is in very good condition with the proper mold markings on the backside, and the stock locks properly into the folded or extended position without any sloppiness.  The action on this M1A1 Carbine is slick and smooth, and when in battery the bolt locks up tight without any excessive play in it.  All of the controls on this Inland carbine are in perfect working order, including the adjustable rear sight.  We have no doubt that this U.S. M1A1 Paratrooper Carbine will function just like the day it originally left the factory in 1944.  It comes complete with a U.S.G.I.sling with double buckles and the C-shaped caps, and an original "IW"-marked U.S.G.I. 15-round box magazine in great shape.  This Inland carbine has a great look and patina to it that is very handsome.  This M1A1 Paratrooper Carbine would be the perfect choice for someone who wants an example that is all original WW2 U.S.G.I. and has real historical value.
