Description:
The Red River Army Depot is located in Texarkana, Texas, and during the 1960's rebuilt a relatively small number of M1 Garands for the U.S. Military.  These 1960's rebuilds are sought after by collector's today. It has the proper stock markings for Red River Army Depot, and is marked butt stock "RRAD". The arsenal-replaced barrel is a Springfield barrel dated June of 1963. We gauged the barrel with U.S. Military-type throat and muzzle gauges and the throat erosion measured "2+" and the muzzle measured "2", which means for all intents and purposes this rifle has a like-new barrel. It obviously has been used VERY little if fired at all since being rebuilt in 1963. The receiver on this M1 Garand is a World War 2 Springfield example that was manufactured in 1945. It likely served in World War 2 and/or the Korean War before being overhauled. As you can see from the pictures the parkerized finish on all of the metal parts is very attractive, with the reciever, trigger group, front sight, stock hardware, and bolt a nice consistent gray color, and the barrel, op rod, and gas cylinder a consistent dark gray color. Typical (and correct) of  Red River rebuilds from the 1960's. The stock set is in excellent condition and free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major damage/wear. The bottom of the pistol grip is marked with a square "P" stamp which is correct for this depot. All of the controls on this M1 Garand are in perfect working order, the action is smooth and slams home into battery, and while in battery the bolt is tight with no wiggle. We have no doubt that this Springfield M1 Garand would shoot just as accurately and reliably as the day it left Red River Army Depot. If you have been looking for a very nice investment quality M1 Garand for your collection this scarce Red River Army Depot rebuilt Springfield would be a great choice.
