Fabulous Colt 1911, Black Army pistol, as issued in WWI in 1918. SN: 288079. Cal: .45 ACP
Spectacular late example of a Colt 1911 manufactured in 1918. Correct features include the borderless checkered hammer, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on left side of frame, Colt barrel Type 1 barrel with sideways "H" on back of chamber. Type A checkered slide-stock short tang and flat mainspring housing. Long trigger, type C magazine release. Large diamond checkered grips. Two tone magazine with 5 indicator holes marked on inner lip by American Pin Co.
Spectacular original rough-milled pistol with minimal sharp-edge wear, largely on left side of muzzle, under trigger guard, and a few tiny handling marks on front and back strap. Crisp inspector marking through the blue, with raised edges. Grips a little darkened with a scattering of superficial marks, particularly the right panel. Good magazine with scattered areas of discoloration and fading as photographed. Bright bore with minimal dulling in grooves, perfect manuel mechanics. A great Colt 1911 Black Army that should satisfy any serious collector.
