New items added daily! Description: This is a very rare German Police Contract Kar98a in 8mm. The rife was refurbished in the 1938-1940 time frame using a leftover WWI Erfurt 1917 Kar98a action, but newly re-barreled and restocked by the Police. These rifles were used by Police forces during the invasion of Russia and in the fight against Partisans where virtually all of them were lost and it is exceedingly rare to find one today. The stock has an Eagle/P cartouche on the right side indicating the reworking was ordered by the police, with another Police Eagle inspection cartouche under the heel. The handguard is marked straight wing Eagle/1 and BSW, which dates the rework to the post-1938 time frame when straight-winged eagle proofs came into usage. All serial numbers match including the rare Kar98a muzzle cover. Very little finish loss on the metal, just a few very small spots of patina here and there. The stock is in excellent condition - a few minor handling marks. The bore is shiny with strong rifling. An exceptionally rare WWII Police rifle with untold history. The gun comes with an unmarked "blank O" bayonet in minty condition. It is speculated that bayo companies did not want their names associated with police activities.
