Description:
This listing is for an excellent plus condition Remington New Model Navy Revolver. Only several thousand of the percussion Navy revolvers were converted from .36 percussion to .38 rinfire by the REMINGTON FACTOR starting in 1873. After these revolvers were converted, Remington now made cartridge Navy revolvers through 1878. This revolver is one of those several thousand converted percussion revolvers with serial number 41670 and factory conversion number 784.
The mechanical function is perfect and the bore and cylinder chambers very fine plus (or better). The bluing on the cylinder and barrel is at least 95%, with the bluing on the frame having dulled but still has 95% present. The loading gate is secure and the cartridge extractor is still present - which is unusual. The grips are also excellent but it appears that some additional varnish was applied in the past. It also has matching numbers on the frame and barrel, including the conversion number. This is the best factory-converted Remington Navy revolver I have seen in the past 40+ years. The revolver will ship with 2 African Ebony & Pre-ban Ivory handled cleaning tools.
This revolver appeared in the 2nd Edition of "The Civil War and the Firearm's Trade, pages 318-319.
As an antique, the buyer need only provide a driver's license that confirms that the buyer is over 21 years of age. The revolver must also ship to the address on the driver's license.
