SOLD Original French Mousqueton Mle 1892 Berthier Artillery Carbine made at St. Étienne - dated 1896. A very intwresting Berthier 1892 carbine that had given many years of service in the field, and re-purosed and rebuilt as needed over the years and may have seen service in French Colonies. Many of these rifles were reworked to fit a specific need . Often rifled were made in to Artillery carbine, monted tropps carbine or constabulary/police but this omne looks lie an engineers carbine . This fine gun has a hand guard for a rifle , but fits wel with the short carbine rear sight. Action is tiff from non use and locks up good. The bolt number doesn't make the SN.. Exposed wood has much of the armory blue. Chamered fro the 8mm Lebel cartridge. The Europen walnut stock is dark from age, and is solid. A colorful French military 19th thru 20 th century rifle.When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
