"U.S. Model 1841 “Mississippi Rifle" .58 caliber rifle. Manufactured by the Harpers Ferry Armory in 1852. Altered for the Civil War by re-rifling from .54 caliber to .58 caliber, added a bayonet lug and long range rear sight. Lock and barrel both dated 1852. “V/P/ Eagle" and “WN/P" on barrel. Spare nipple in patchbox. Cleaning rod is a replacement. Smooth metal on lock, barrel has much original finish. Very good stock with no cracks or chips. Brass furniture with pleasing patina. Very good bore. Don’t miss this key Civil War rifle.
