In 1944 the "7,62 mm Carbine, Model of the Year 1944", commonly known as the M44 in the US, was adopted by the Soviet Union to replace the M38 carbine. The M44 is identical to the M38 but featured the addition of a folding bayonet. The M44 is the only model of Mosin Nagant that was produced in the Soviet Union after WWII with production ending in 1948. It is also the model most widely duplicated by other countries during the Cold War. As with the M38, production occurred at Izhevsk and Tula arsenals. This example is in excellent condition and was manufactured by Izhevsk in 1946. It is all numbers matching with a high polish blue finish and features a minty, bright bore. The action works smoothly and the bayonet extends and folds without issues. It comes with an original issue sling. If your looking for a very nice Mosin Nagant Model 44, this would be an excellent addition to any collection and would be a perfect shooter to take out to the range.
