Description:
Winchester Model of 1886 Lever Action Sporting Rifle "First Model" .45-70 Gov't. Case Hardened Receiver and Factory 26" Barrel. The serial number of this very early example is 19252 placing date of manufacture in 1887-88. Overall condition is very good plus with the Barrel and Magazine tube retaining 60+% of the original untouched factory rust blue finish. The bore is near perfect and will rate a 9.5 on a 1 to 10 scale. The bore has strong rifling with little evidence of wear, bright and shiny from breech too muzzle. You will find a small flat spot or ding on the end of the barrel, doesn't detract from the value or appearance, can be expected with a 133 year old rifle. Couple of the rifles screws have had a screw driver in them, not damaged, remaining screws are perfect. The Case Hardened Receiver is mostly silvered out with case colors shadowing present, Case Colors will be found in protected areas. The action is tight, smooth and mechanically perfect. Original and correct "1886" marked rear sight. Wood to metal fit is perfect with the forearm having a small hairline crack on the right side, easily remedied. Stock and Forearm have retained 50% of the original factory varnish. Getting very hard to find these early First Models in this condition in the price range!  Please phone Tommy at (760)-912-3761 or E-Mail all questions and concerns. $35.00 shipping. Insurance will be additional.
