This is my personal Hämmerli 208 S which I bought in Germany when I was a boy. It comes with the original serialized box and 2 Magazins, also serialized to the gun, original Manual. The box does not have the foam insert anymore, since it disinegrated about 15 years ago. I is in very good condition otherwise. One corner shows minimal wear. I am not a historian on guns, but Hämmerli nomenclature can be confusing. The best I figured it out is as follows. In 1936 Carl Walther introduced the Walter Olympia for the Olympic games, which insured many gold medals for the German Athletes. After the war, Germany was not allowed to manufacture weapons, so Walther made a deal with Hammerli in Lenzburg Switzerland to produce the guns. Improvements were made and after some model changes the Hammerli International was born. The Internaltional is also known as the Model 208 and 208 S, even though not all were marked that way. All 208 models have target grips with an adjustable palm rest and a thumb rest. Other models werethe 211, which was the 208 with regular grips and the hunting version which had regular sights cut into the slide.As far as I know the 215 is very similar, but has a squared triggerguard. Again, I am not an expert, but i was curious about the differences. In the late 1980s or early 1990s the production was stopped due to cost increases.
The International (208) has probably won more matches than any other competition pistol in its class.
The condition I would consider excellent minus. I have shot it in competition as a younster, then it was dormant for about 25 years until I had it imported to the US. Unfortunately my eyes are not as good as when I started out, so I had a red dot mount made and it helped me immensly ( please see my other listing for this) The red dot and red dot mount is not included with this listing.
The gun is high gloss blued with some parts matte blued. A few wear marks from the slide can be seen. There is a scatch/small dent on the left side of the grip. The grips are polished and varished. The gun should only be used with quality ammo with standard velocity. It can be picky, but I found Eley Sport ( now the yellow box) and SK ammo to work very well. All springs and wear parts, like the ejector were changed out about 5 years ago by Larry's Guns. He is the Hammerli Guru. The gun has several German Proof marks, one is 73, which I assume it was 1973. Which would make sense, since I bought it new in 1974 or 1975.
