Description:
This is a beautiful all-original "1st Issue" Colt Lightweight Agent .38 Special revolver made in 1968. These first issue guns are easily identified by the exposed ejector rod and thin barrel. These first issue guns were in production for 17 years between 1955 and 1972 before being redesigned and reintroduced as "2nd Issue" guns with the same model name. The Lightweight Agent was a commercial success for the Colt firm, quickly earning reputation for being easily concealable, reliable, well-made, and accurate. This particular example is serial number 252949LW and remains in beautiful condition. The original factory finishes on the alloy frame and steel parts rate 98%, showing only a few tiny handling/storage marks. The bore in the 2" inch barrel is immaculate and mirror-bright, with no visible imperfections, erosion, or pitting. The cylinder bores are also like-new and pristine. The original full-checkered American Walnut grips with silver Rampant Colt medallions are in excellent condition, with both sides showing only some minor handling marks and clean, crisp checkering. Both grip panels are perfectly fit to the gun and tight to the grip frame with no wiggle. The action on this Colt Agent is perfectly "in time" and locks up tight. All of the controls are in perfect working order. The internals of this Colt are just as pristine and free from wear as the exterior.
