Description: Antique Continental Single-Shot Screw-Barrel Boxlock Percussion Pistol, approx. .52 cal., 2-3/8” round iron barrel has a tiny “2” at breech juncture; squared iron boxlock frame has a gracefully-shaped hammer, low curved flash shield, folding trigger that drops when the hammer is cocked, tiny “2” at breech, and is floral engraved; smooth walnut bag-style grips have an oval buttcap of ivory. Condition is very good. The barrel retains no original finish but is smooth gunmetal gray; the frame and hammer have 90%-92% bright nickel plating which shows some minor blistering at the lower tang; engraving and markings are clear. Grips are smooth with most original finish, ivory shows light age fissures; right side at frame with a crack that appears to have been repaired, feels solid.
