Description:
A very nice white buff leather rifle sling, meant to be used with the 1841 Mississippi rifle. It was made by Stephen H. Young, of Newark, New Jersey, on a U.S. Government contract, dated Feb. 1st 1865, for the American Civil War. This sling was inspected by the Government inspector R. White. It is embossed with the maker’s mark, and the U.S. inspector’s stamp. It is white buff leather with a gold plated brass hook.

Condition: VERY GOOD – may have never been issued – Leather is very supple with some light soiling – Hook retains nearly all of its original gold plating
