"Springfield Trapdoor Sporting .45-70 caliber rifle. Sporting rifle. Barrel length is 30" and overall length is 49". The action is from a military Springfield, serial # 2480. Bore is good to very good showing wear. Many conversions for Buffalo Hunters were made on these actions with the stocks in this configuration. Rear sight is a Rocky Mountain buckhorn with adjustable ladder. Front sight is German silver ramp. Stock is good plus. Buttplate is “U.S." marked. The stock at the buttplate has dark stains. Very colorful 1870-1880 Hunters rifle priced reasonably.
