This all numbers matching 1886 vintage Colt Frontier Six-Shooter, Single Action, is fitted with a 7-1/2" barrel with 1-line address and "Frontier Six Shooter" on etched panel. The stocks are black "Standing Eagle' checkered hard rubber, built on the (at the time standard) black powder frame, finished in blue with color case-hardened frame, and chambered in .44-40 W.C.F.. The gun is in excellent original, used but not abused, condition. This Single Action shipped on March 29, 1887 to Hall Willis Hardware Co. located in Kansas City, Missouri, giving this Colt western heritage. The barrel retains about 60% of its original blue finish, the ejector rod housing about 50%, the cylinder 60% (traces of finish in the flutes), and the back-strap and trigger guard about 40% (traces mostly found in the protected areas). The frame retains 40% of its original color case-hardened finsh, with most found in the protected areas ahead of the frame and under the loading gate. The bore is outstanding for its age, with bright sharp rifling and only very minor frosting in the grooves. The action functions perfectly, with a tight lock-up. The grips fit very well, with sharp checkering and minimal handling marks. The Etched Panel Frontier Six Shooter has always been the most sought after of all commercial black powder frame Colt's. A very nice example of it's type that should make a fine investment for the future. Included is a Colt Factory Letter authenticating the revolver is as it left Hartford in 1886.
