Description:

A money belt with a history!!

Handmade Antique money belt. Measures 44 inches long from buckle tough to the end of the belt. One large 7 inch pouch for paper money or important documents and on each side of that four coin pockets. If you look at the photos you can see the round impressions of large coins. Every part of this belt is very well done by hand made from very soft thin pebble grain leather with rolled hand made leather button fasteners on each pocket. These types of belts were worn in the late 19th century by those that traveled to far away places. Often worn by gold and silver prospectors, soldiers,  and cowmen. An iron rectangular buckle of heavy metal with a tongue to engage the belt. This belt has been marked and dated by its owner's and is so marked; "APRIL 25 1882 DENNIS. MARAUDER & FRED C. BROHASKA SAN JOSE CALIFORNIA FOR ZANTE GREECE ARRIVED JUNE 25"  Great for display with old coins or gold. Here we show a picture of Fred C. Brohaska, but as for "Dennis Maraude" true to his last name he remains a mystery man.

All the hand work perfectly intact, all hand stitching is in perfect condition and the leather is totally alive and soft.
