Description:
Serial #735, 9mm Nagant, 5 1/2" barrels with excellent, bright bores. This is a rare and very interesting pistol (one of about 1,000 1st version pistols manufactured) that was the first cartridge handgun adopted by Belgian police officers at the tail-end of the 19th century. The pistol is built on a robust rolling block action with a single breechblock and double hammers. The gun is fired via a single, non-selective trigger that fires the right barrel first, then the left. The metal retains 85-90% of the original blue finish that has faded mildly along the high edges and projections. The checkered walnut grips are in very good condition, intact and unchipped, but with moderate wear and some heavy flattening of the points, especially at the butt. The original police issue markings are still clear and crisp on the buttcap, “W/735". The end of the right hand barrel has an impact mark and does cause a slight flat spot in the bore. These are very well-made and interesting pistols, and are seldom seen in the USA. Antique
