Description:
Winchesters Model of 1876 Sporting Rifle .45-60wcf. Special order 26 inch Barrel and heavy Shotgun Butt. The serial number of this example is 195XX placing date of manufacture in 1881. Overall condition is excellent with the Factory 26 inch Barrel and magazine Tube retaining 95+% of the original factory blue. The Magazine Hanger is refinished, nicely done. The bore is dark, however the rifling is present with lots of fouling. A good scrubbing with Hope's #9 should clean it up... The Magazine tube is missing the Follower and Spring, easily remedied. The receiver has full coverage of the Case Colors mostly faded and shadow. The action is tight, smooth and mechanically perfect. Wood to metal fit is perfect. The Butt Stock is the heavier, thicker early Shotgun Butt appears to be a Factory Hand Rubbed Oil! Little TLC, Gorgeous second model.
