Description:
Here is an absolutely rare and gorgeous Purdey BP double rifle in exceptional condition made in 1895. The photos tell it all. Lovely wood, fine checkering, and classic style Purdey engraving which is crisp and fine. 28in. Whitworth Fluid Pressed Steel barrels with perfect bores. A neat feature is the classic Purdey "Island Locks".
Stats are: LOP - 14 1/2in. to a nicely done Pachmayer Old English pad (the only non-original part of the rifle), DAH - 2 1/4in., DAC - 1 5/8in., Weight 8 1/2lbs. It comes with a high quality non-original (made in Italy) leather case that appears to be fitted for the rifle. The case has a silver plated oil bottle, a silver plated container with spare firing pins in it, 2 Purdey turn screws, and a carying sling. Dies and about 40 pieces of new boxer primed brass come with the rifle. The only possible negative is that the top rib has been drilled and tapped for scope bases though apparently professionally done.
