Description:
If you have been looking for a serious precision sniping rifle for your collection this Sig Sauer SSG 3000 might be the perfect choice. First introduced in 1992 after being designed in both Germany and Switzerland, the Sig Sauer SSG 3000 was designed to be an extremely tough and accurate sniping rifle for police forces and militaries all over the world.  It did not take long for the SSG 3000 to earn a reputation for being one of the best .308 Winchester / 7.62 NATO bolt-action sniper rifles ever made, with many professional marksman choosing the SSG over more "advanced" designs even today.  The bolt-action Sig Sauer SSG 3000 features a robust 1-piece forged and machined receiver and a bolt with six frontal locking lugs that interact directly with the 23.5" inch barrel for the best lock-up and accuracy potential possible.  The SSG uses a 5-round detachable single-stack box magazine with a push-button release located just ahead of the magazine, a right-handed oversized bolt handle for ease of cycling the bolt, and a factory-installed M1913 rail section on the receiver for mounting optics.  There is a red-painted tab-style cocking indicator at the rear of the bolt that pops out when the gun is cocked.  The match-grade 23.5" inch heavy-profiled barrel is hammer-forged and features a threaded muzzle with a factory-installed flash hider.  The flash hider is easily removable for suppressor use.  The factory trigger on the Sig SSG 3000 is fully-adjustable and two-stage.  The safety design of the SSG is really neat with the switch to turn it on located just behind the bolt handle on the right side of the receiver.  When the safety is turned "on" a button pops out just ahead of the trigger as both a visual and tactile indicator that the gun is on "safe".  The safety can be silently turned off with the shooter's trigger finger or turned back "on" with their thumb.  The factory stock of the SSG also really sets it apart from other rifles, particularly on the earlier guns with McMillan fiberglass and aluminum stocks.  These stock feature fully-adjustable length of pull by configuring the spacers at the butt and have a quick-adjust comb to perfectly fit the rifle and scope to the shooter.  The McMillan stock has integral aluminum bedding blocks for accuracy and strength, and below the receiver the stock extends downward to fully support and protect the magazine all the way around.  The forearm section of the stock has an inlaid aluminum rail section that allows the owner to move the bipod and/or sling swivel stud anywhere between the end of the stock and just ahead of the magazine housing.  The pistol grip area of the stock is textured and has a near-vertical face for greater control.  This particular example is serial number Y18826 and was manufactured in 2000.  It is in excellent condition inside and out and is 100% original and matching.  The original factory finish is in beautiful shape and rates 97 to 98%, with the only deductions coming from some very tiny little handling marks.  The bore is mirror-bright and free from any damage or imperfections.  The rifling still looks brand-new with sharp lands and grooves throughout the barrel.  The original McMillan stock is in excellent condition as well, free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/damage.  The only part of the stock that shows any degradation is the top quarter of the recoil pad where it was stored in a rack muzzle-up.  The action on this Sig Sauer is slick and precise, and all of the controls are in perfect working order.  Judging by the looks and condition of this rifle inside and out, it has likely had less than 2 or 3 boxes of cartridges fired thru it since it was imported in the U.S..  We have no doubt that this SSG 3000 will shoot just as reliably and accurately today as the day it left the factory 20 years ago.
