IDENTIFIED CIVIL WAR 10TH ILLINOIS CAVALRY SHARPS U.S. NEW MODEL 1859 PERCUSSION .52 CAL. CAVALRY CARBINE. Serial number 75212 and all original and matching. Listed in Coates and McAulay’s “CIVIL WAR SHARPS CARBINES AND RIFLES” on page 60 by serial number as having been issued to Private Thomas F. Ennix, Co. B, 10th Illinois Cavalry. Early Model 1859 with desirable iron patch box not seen on later models. Shows lots of War use. However all original condition with the original finish on the wood and the old dark patina on metal. Working order and good bore. 10th Illinois was heavily engaged throughout the war in the Trans-Mississippi theater mostly in Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas. Famous unit.
