Description:
Superb Documented Factory Inscribed St. Louis Police Dept. Consecutive Pair, Serial Numbers 16831 and 16832, of Pre-War Colt Super 38 Semi-Automatic Pistol with Factory Letters which were from the personal collection of the former President of the Colt Collector's Association, Mr. Jeffrey Fantich. He was very particular about the items in his personal collections and these were the only two automatics that he owned. To, Mr Fantich, these two Colts represented what automatics "should be like."
This is an excellent example of a very scarce early pair of consecutive pre-war Colt Super 38 Automatic pistols, that were sold to the St. Louis Police Department in 1934.. The front grip strap has been factory engraved "St. L.P.D." The Colt factory letters are dated October 28th 2000 and verifies these are two of 10 pistols shipped to the St Louis PD on September 25th 1934 as per the original Colt letters which are included. The left side of the slide is marked with the standard two-line address/patent dates and the right side is marked "COLT SUPER.38/AUTOMATIC" followed by the Rampant Colt. The upper left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with a letter "W" over the Colt "VP" proof with the number "12" on SN 16832 and 14 on SN 16831 on the opposite side. It has the early high polish blue finish with an excellent super smooth action. The slide has the standard pre-war fixed sight with the thick, half-moon style front sight with the square notch rear sight. It has the short trigger with the checkered face, with the checkered slide lock lever, thumb safety and the wide spur hammer, with the full checkering. It is complete with one half-tone Colt magazine that is marked "COLT/SUPER .38 AUTO" on the bottom.

This came from the estate of an FFL/SOT Gun Smith, Gun Store that is out of business. This is or was inventory. The estate also was an avid collector of all types.
