Payment Types Accepted: Money Order, Personal or Bank Check Description: Authentic William Glaze & Co., Columbia, S.C. Palmetto pistol. Single-shot .54 caliber with an 8.5" barrel. The Palmetto Armory contracted model 1842 pistols for the state of South Carolina and they were delivered by William Glaze in 1853. These were heavily used by the Confederate states throughout the war. The lock markings are distinct and clear showing the Palmetto tree with "PALMETTO ARMORY" above it and "S*C" below. Behind the hammer it is additionally stamped "COLUMBIA / S.C. 1852". The barrel tang is stamped "1853". The barrel is stamped on the left side "WM GLAZE & CO." in addition to the barrel proof stamps "P / V / Palmetto tree". The iron overall is an aged pewter-grey with dark spot freckling. The brass components have an untouched light-mustard patina. The wood stock has no cracks or chips, just expected age handling wear. The owner carved his initials into the left side of the stock "F.S." adding character. Original swivel ramrod. Mechanics are tight. Here is your opportunity for an original authentic Confederate used pistol that was used and not abused. As mentioned, these were heavily used and to find one in this overall condition is seldom encountered. SOLD Antique: Yes |
