Description:
Winchesters Model of 1873 Lever Action Sporting Rifle .38/40wcf. The serial number of this example is 11991XX placing date of manufacture in 1883. Overall condition of this 73 is fine with the Barrel and Magazine Tube retaining 80-85% of its original untouched finish just starting to tone. The Barrel has scattered pitting as expected with early black powder firearms. The Rifling is strong and deep with shine from breech too muzzle. I would rate the bore an 8 on a 1 to 10 scale. The receiver has retained 90% of its original untouched factory finish. The Brass Follower is on polished with crisp caliber markings. The Brass receiver has a very nice marbled patina. Front Sight is a Marbles Combination, Rear Sight an early "Semi-Clover Leaf", commonly found on the early "First Models". Wood to metal fit is perfect with normal handling marks and hits.
