Description:
An antique brass bound, figured walnut, writing desk. The folding lap desk has two small hidden drawers in the lower front, under the pen cove. It still retains two antique glass ink wells. The writing surface, within, is gold embossed blue leather. Each end has a fold out brass handle. The maker’s blue paper label is intact. On it is the quote “Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense”, which translates as “Shame on him who thinks evil of it”, a motto of the order of the Garter. There is a brass plaque set within the lid with two initials engraved on it.

Condition: It is complete with the exception of the case key – Overall condition is very good with only very minor marks and a couple of stress cracks, from age
