Lewis Draper was a principle sub inspector under John T Cleveland, he inspected in 1876 and 1877 in the serial number range 30675 to 35699, this specimen is 31630 A Draper marked frame (particularly condemned) is exceedingly rare. The included documentation details the trial and tribulations of Colt regarding inspectors during that time period. There is a detailed history of the condemned Colt Single Action Cavalries of the period included with this gun. The gun shows as 100 % correct for a LD inspected frame condemned then completed as a civilian model. Numbers matching barrel, frame, grip frame, trigger guard. and cylinder. Correct 2 line patent dates on the frame. correct civilian 45 marked trigger bow. No caliber markings on the single address line barrel. Bullseye ejector rob tip, No visible pencil marking inside the frame channel on the one piece wood grips. The bore is strong and one of the nicer early first Gen 45 cal black powder bores we have encountered. Mechanics are strong. with proper 4 hammer clicks. The finishes are faded down to a pleasing grey. no deep gouges or scratches.(excepting the bottom of the ejector shroud.
