Description:

This Springfield 03 "Mark 1" & was mfg abt 1919. 65000 of  these Mark 1's were designated such and were to be later equipped for the "Pedersen Device".
Reference - I use "The  Model 1903 Springfield Rifle & It's variations by Joe Poyer (2013)
Obviovsly only a few hundred were eventually equipped  w/this device. It does have the oval cut slot on the left side of the receiver, however & it falls within the
correct serial number range of 1,034,502 to 1,197,834. This '03 has an interesting history of Springfield factory upgrades.  To begin with the aforementioned
"Pedersen Device" machined oval slot, the barrel "1-41',  Rear Sight - Graduated and "270" yards, the front site (Adj.), the "S" stock, the later buttplate.
It is in about 98% percent condition w/the proper bluing and a varty slight patina around the Graduated "270 yard sight (Later one). The action is firm and very
smooth. The bore is a mirror and measures "1" and the throat is "0".  The stock has a partially legible cartouche of "R. R. A. ( 1st Letter hard to read). w/a
imprinted 15/16" square w/a P inside of it. It is in about 98% condition w/the correct walnut staining and linseed oil. This to me is an excellent example of
an 03 that was in both the WWI & WWII period. i would rate this and an NRA Excellent.
