Description:
WWII lugers made by Mauser and marked “42” over the chamber and “byf” on the toggle are called “Black Widow Lugers” by American collectors because they had black Bakelite grips and the magazines had black Bakelite bottoms.
My father returned from WWII with a luger Mauser made in 1935, “G” date “S/42” toggle, which had the correct wood grips and aluminum bottom magazine. He also brought back like-new black Bakelite grips and a magazine with a black Bakelite that he removed from a “42”/”byf” luger. I’ve had them for 50+ years but now it’s time to sell - see my ad for the magazine.
NOTE: It was extremely difficult to photograph these grips to show their condition. They are perfect with no cracks or nicks and no signs of any wear. The diamonds have all their sharp pointy tops!
