The 6.5mm Japanese type 30 was the standard rifle and carbine from 1899 to 1905/06. This type 30 rifle with correctly working action and dark bore with strong rifling. Made by the Kosishikawa arsenal (Tokyo). It has the early issue rear sight (most were changed to the later sight) and has the distinctive hook safety on the bolt. Metal retains most original blue, turning plumb/brown. Wood is good with no cracks or chips, with usual dents and dings expected on an issued arm. Cleaning rod is absent. Original Type 30 rifles, like this one, are hard to find as Japan sold many to other countries during WWI and turned many into smooth bore training rifles. The Type 30 receiver markings are present and the mum is intact.
