Payment Types Accepted: cash, check, money order Description: Colt 1860 Army. Serial no. 79431. Manufactured in 1862. Issued to Sergeant Augustus Pittman Co.C 12th NY Cavalry on 15 September 1863. He enisted in New York City on 29 January 1863. This information is in Springfield Research and the Company records of the 12th NY. He made Lt. on 8 January 1864. The 12th NY were involved in 103 engagements in Va. and N.C. during the war. Lt. Pittman was KIA at Wise's Forks N.C. on 8 March 1865. Revolver is untouched , just the way you want to find one. Beautiful brownish-gray patina. Has some minor surface blemishes in spots. Brass has nice untouched patina, untouched grips have both cartouches, but are hard to discern. Sub-inspectors on all parts. I'd say the cylinder scene is about 75%. All matching numbers except wedge which is unnumbered. Has initials JFC scratched in butt strap. Maybe a Confederate who captured the revolver when Pittman was killed. That answer is lost to time. But maybe with research you could find the unit or units that fought the 12th on 8 March 1865 and go thru the rosters to find those initials? The revolver comes with a binder of information and muster and pension records. KIA identified weapons are fairly rare to come by and a great find when one comes along. please call 973-214-3407 with questions. SOLD Antique: Yes |
