Description:
This is a spectacular all-original example of the very scarce Colt Model .357 Magnum revolver.  This low-production double-action revolver was only manufactured between 1953 and 1961, with a total number of about 15,000 guns made before being absorbed into the Trooper line of revolvers.  The .357 Magnum model was offered with either a 4" or 6" inch barrel, a gloss-blue or nickel finish, a standard or wide hammer, and standard or target grips.  This heavy duty double-action/single action revolver was chambered in .357 Magnum only and featured a 6-shot fluted cylinder and an Accro adjustable rear target sight with a ramped front blade.  These vintage Colt's were extremely well-made guns with excellent fit and finish and quickly earned a reputation with shooters for being very accurate and reliable guns.  This particular example was manufactured in 1960 and has apprently spent it's life in storage.  It remains in superb all-original condition with the factoiry blue finish rating 98% plus.  The only deductions we could find under close inspection were a few tiny little places of finish wear, a very, very faint drag-line around the cylinder, and a couple of tiny little handling marks on the bottom of the triggerguard.  As you can see from the pictures, these deductions do not detract anything whatsoever from the minty look of this Colt.  The bore in the 4" inch barrel is pristine and mirror-bright with perfect, sharp rifling.  The 6 chambers in the cylinder are equally as spotless and clean. The factory polished sides of the hammer are spotless and show no evidence of ever having been polished or cleaned after leaving the factory, as the crossgrain is still 100% visible.  All of the screw heads on this Colt are perfect and unturned except for the grip screw which shows only a touch of wear in the slot.  The original factory checkered American Walnut target grips are in excellent condition, free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or visible wear/damage.  The checkering on both grips is clean, crisp, and free from any oil staining.  Both grips have perfect silver Rampant Colt medallions, and both grips are tight to the gun with no slop/wiggle.  The action on this Colt is smooth, slick, precise, and perfectly "in time" no matter how the action is worked.  All of the controls are in perfect working order as well, including the adjustable rear sight.  There is no doubt that this Colt would function 100% now just like the day it left the factory 60 years ago! If you have been looking for one of these very hard to find .357 Magnum models here is your chance to get a superb all-original example in just beautiful condition inside and out.
